Contribution to CFS Policy Convergence Process
29 NOVEMBER, 2019 - Major shifts in farm subsidies and research funding, new sustainability indicators and a crackdown on corporate concentration are all required in order to promote agroecology.
These messages were underlined by IPES-Food in the panel's contribution to the FAO Committee on World Food Security (CFS) Policy Convergence Process on Agroecological and Other Innovative Approaches. IPES-Food urged the CFS to make bold recommendations on agroecology, underlining its unique potential to spark food system transformation.
The convergence process builds on the recent report of the CFS' High Level Panel of Experts. It will serve to guide the policy priorities to achieve food system transformation and deliver the SDGs, and will be endorsed at CFS47 in October 2020.
