Melodie Tamer

Melodie is a Food Security MS candidate specialized in Economics and Food Policies at the American University of Beirut, from where she also received a BS in Agriculture. As part of her MS, Melodie is currently working as a laboratory instructor, and as a research assistant on subjects related to population health, sustainability, and diets. Her MS thesis focuses on the efficiency of the Lebanese food system and assesses the ability for urban agriculture to increase food security and improve wellbeing in light of the current economic crisis. Previously, Melodie worked as an Operations Manager at the leading Lebanese NGO, Live Love Beirut, working on projects promoting sustainable tourism and increasing the visibility and market access of local, small scale producers into the Lebanese market. She believes that a circular economy and the return to traditional and culturally appropriate diets are the keys to restoring resilient and sustainable food systems.
